Meet the 2022 Mercedes GLBMercedes-Benz, a front-runner in the luxury automobile game, has unveiled the 2022 Mercedes GLB. If you are familiar with the GLA class, you may notice some similarities between the two, but the GLB is for those who are looking for a larger vehicle than the GLA class. Its size isn’t the only impressive thing about it, but the technology employed within and luxury interior designs are also some keynotes of this year’s GLB edition. Check out the GLB in full below.

The Mercedes GLB is classified as a luxury compact SUV, with an emphasis on luxury. It has four doors and five seats, but the total number of seats increases to seven if you opt for the available third row. Under the hood, the GLB is working with a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine, outputting 221 horsepower. The GLB is as capable as it is grand, with the ability to tow up to ~7000 pounds.

There are only two trims this year, the GLB 250 and the GLB 250 4MATIC, making the buying process less of a headache. The main difference between the two is that the 4MATIC is equipped with a standard all-wheel-drive system.

What’s New in 2022

Not too much has changed from last year’s model. The AMG model is now equipped with a USB-C port. The AMG also got a new package, the Night Package Plus, which adds blacked-out trimmings to the GLB. The Premium package in the standard model now includes SiriusXM radio.

Technology

Driving is just as much about mood as it is about driving. Having the right tunes, comfortable seating, and pleasing-to-the-eye displays, are all important in creating the right atmosphere. The 2022 GLB is equipped with a 64-color LED lighting adjuster that can change the interior trim colors to suit your mood. There is also a seven-inch instrument cluster and a seven-inch infotainment display.

The infotainment display will be your command center for music, navigation, calls, settings menus, Apple/Android smart device connectivity, and more. GBUX, Mercedes’ in-car personal assistant, can be activated by calling out to the Mercedes. A command like “I need coffee” will prompt GBUX to find local coffee shops near you.

Safety

Prospective buyers will be glad to learn of the GLB’s five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). These ratings determine how well a vehicle can withstand crashes from the front, rear, sides, and rollovers. Another unique feature of the GLB is the emergency call button. If you are ever in need of aid, you can press this button to send out an SOS call.
