1. Chicago

Located a little under 15 miles southeast of downtown Lincolnwood, the Chicago city center can be reached in about 20 minutes by car along route I-94. Once you make your way to the city, make sure to go for a walk around the Chicago Riverwalk, which sits along the banks of the Chicago River and goes through famous landmarks, including the Reid Murdoch Building, and the Marshall Suloway Bridge, and Willis Tower.

2. Moraine Hills State Park

Located just 40 miles northwest of downtown Lincolnwood, Moraine Hills State Park is a great destination for outdoor adventure enthusiasts wanting to spend some time away from the city and check out some of the beautiful landscapes of the region. Covering an area of about 2,200 acres, this nature reserve opened its doors to the public in 1976 and has since become a popular recreation area.

Getting from Lincolnwood to Moraine Hills State Park takes a little under an hour by car via route I-94. Once you make your way to this expansive nature reserve, make sure to check out some of its long hiking trails, as well as the scenic viewpoints along the Fox River and the McHenry Lock and Dam.

3. Illinois Beach

Covering an area of about 4,000 acres and offering excellent opportunities for fishing, hiking, boating, camping, and other recreational activities, Illinois Beach is a wonderful destination where you can spend an entire day having fun with your friends or family. This lakeside recreational area is located just 35 miles north of downtown Lincolnwood and can be reached in about 45 minutes by car along routes I-94 and US Highway 41.
