In 2024, Mercedes-Benz unveiled new state-of-the-art features for its MBUX infotainment system. There were many improvements made to existing functions, but the primary focus was on the brand-new AI-assisted technology upgrade. For 2025, we’ve put together a comprehensive Mercedes-Benz MBUX guide so you can get the most out of your car’s infotainment system.

The Future of Infotainment: A Mercedes-Benz MBUX Guide

Overview

The new MBUX, or Mercedes-Benz User Experience, sets out to improve your daily drive in every way, from user interface, to entertainment, to personalization. The software now incorporates the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to offer a wealth of services, features, and interaction options that are intuitively operated by voice, gesture, or touch.

User Experience

Everything about the MBUX was designed with user experience in mind. For instance, the MBUX Zero Layer simplifies the infotainment system by displaying applications on the home screen that contextually reflect the current situation. Meanwhile, the MBUX Voice Assistant can even interpret and process indirect commands. For example, a statement such as “I’m cold” will cause the Voice Assistant to automatically raise the cabin temperature.

Entertainment

The MBUX also features incredible advancements in terms of in-car entertainment. By activating the Online Music service with your Mercedes Me ID, you can stream music directly through your vehicle itself. Additionally, the Video Streaming service gives you the opportunity to watch short or long-form videos. Generally speaking, this feature can only be used when the vehicle is parked or charging, but there is support for Mercedes’ self-driving models.

A small collection of minigames has also been developed specifically for the touchscreen and button controls on your steering wheel. Once again, this feature can only be accessed if the car is charging, parked, or contains self-driving software.

Personalization

Facial recognition has now been incorporated into the MBUX system in addition to fingerprint and voice recognition. You can also choose from three different styles for your vehicle’s touchscreen display: Classic, Sport, and Subtle. Finally, your Mercedes will store information that you enter, such as seat adjustments, temperature, and audio functions, to better configure your user interface.

There’s no doubt that Mercedes-Benz is on top of the latest innovations in technology and in-car entertainment.
