The 2027 Mercedes-AMG® GT 4-Door Coupe is AMG®'s most ambitious vehicle in its 57-year history — the first model built on the purpose-designed AMG®.EA electric architecture, and the car that answers definitively whether an AMG® without a combustion engine can still be an AMG®. The answer, delivered with 1,153 horsepower, a 2.0-second 0-to-60-mph time, and 600-kW peak DC fast charging validated over a 24,901-mile continuous run at 186 mph at Italy's Nardò Ring, is an unambiguous yes. The GT 4-Door Coupe launches in two variants: the GT 55, arriving at U.S. dealerships later in 2026 with 805 horsepower, and the GT 63, arriving in early 2027 with 1,153 horsepower — the most of any production Mercedes-Benz ever built.

Three axial-flux electric motors — one at the front axle, two at the rear — are at the heart of the AMG®.EA platform. Axial-flux motors are more compact and power-dense than the conventional radial-flux motors used in most EVs, allowing AMG® to package more output in a lighter, smaller unit. The 106-kWh battery uses directly oil-cooled cylindrical cells derived from AMG®'s Formula 1 program, maintaining consistent peak performance over repeated hard acceleration runs without the thermal derating that limits most high-performance EVs. The GT 55's continuous output of 503 hp and the GT 63's 711 hp of sustained power — not peak figures, but continuous — reflect this thermal management advantage directly. AMG® Performance 4MATIC+® all-wheel drive is rear-biased by calibration, and rear-axle steering with active aero via the available Aerokinetics system complete a chassis that is as serious as the powertrain numbers suggest.

AMG®'s response to the emotion question is AMGFORCE Sport+ mode — a multi-sensory experience that draws on more than 1,600 individual sound files mixed in real time to reconstruct the acoustic signature of a real AMG® V8, anchored by recordings from the AMG® GT R. Haptic feedback through the seat and steering wheel, simulated gear changes with traction interruption, and an adapted driver display work together to create an experience that goes well beyond what any other automaker has attempted in this space. The optional AMG® Race Engineer Control Unit — three center-console rotary dials for Response, Agility, and Traction across nine stages each — gives GT 4-Door drivers more real-time dynamic customization than any previous AMG® road car. Inside, a 10.2-inch driver display, 14-inch central touchscreen, and standard 14-inch passenger display run on MB.OS with AMG®-specific Zero Layer graphics. The available MAGIC SKY CONTROL® panoramic glass roof projects AMG® crests and racing stripes at night. Standard carbon-ceramic front brakes and available AMG® Active Ride Control suspension on the GT 63 complete a specification that is comprehensive from the factory.

Expert Summary

The 2027 Mercedes-AMG® GT 4-Door Coupe is the vehicle that defines AMG®'s electric era — a car that does not ask its driver to mourn the combustion engine but instead makes the case that electric performance, done right, is more thrilling than what came before. The AMG®.EA platform's axial-flux motors and F1-derived battery deliver the kind of sustained, repeatable performance that most EVs can only claim in brief bursts, while AMGFORCE Sport+ and the Race Engineer Control Unit ensure the emotional dimension of driving an AMG® is fully present. For Loeber Motors customers who want the most powerful, most technologically advanced four-door AMG® ever built, the GT 4-Door Coupe delivers both variants — and the GT 63, at 1,153 hp, is the most powerful production Mercedes-Benz ever made.
